notes: I explain this in terms of the 2 lace patterns used the 'ends' pattern is used right after casting on and just before casting off and the main section is what makes up the body of the scarf.
the part in the middle p 3, k6, p3, is where the cable is created just cable every 6 rows (or more or less depending on how tight you like your cables.)

 A self designed pattern.

: US 9
: ( 2 skeins = 218.0 yards )Rowan RYC Baby Alpaca DK, thistle

( outside and bottom lace pattern are from Knitting Dictionary: 800 stitch patterns )

Pattern: cast on and K 30 st,

“ends” lace pattern (a.k.a. modified horizontal lace pattern)
knit 3 rows in stocking st.
on reverse side k 1 row, p 1 row,
row1:wrn to m1, sl 1,k1,psso rep to end of row.
row2:p
row3+6+7knit
row 4+5:purl

main pattern.
row 1: k2tog, yo, k2tog, yo, k, yo k2tog, yo, ktog, p 3, k6, p3, k2tog, yo, k2tog, yo, k, yo k2tog, yo, ktog,
row 2: purl all

p 3, k6, p3, in r1 is where the cable is created, just cable every 6 rows (or more or less depending on how tight you like your cables.)
(so you would knit r1,r2-,r1,r2-,r1,r2-,r1,r2, r1,r2, -then on r1 knit as normal until you reach k6 instead cable)

repeat until you reach approperate length then repeat the “ends” lace pattern

if you have any questions just message me and I’ll be happy to explain :)

love and socks

yesterday I saw Nick and Nora's Infinite playlist (they change some things from the book but it's still cute). My boyfriend (Sam) got me into the premier for free since he works at a radio station and they put on these things.
After my boyfriend gets done doing the whole promotions thing for his radio station he sits down next to me and gives me a big smile.
"what?" he launches into  how he was talking to his co-workers and sees me pulling out my knitting "oh- she's reaching to her bag- yep- yep, she's getting out her knitting"
"your girlfriend knits?"
sam:"yeah she made me this awesome hat I am going to wear this winter"
"Dude, do you think she could make me some socks in Blazers colors?- I'd pay her!"
sam: *laughs* well I could ask her.

my reaction was one of "hmm well... actually...." and he could just see the gears churning in my head  "he just wants colors- but I think you should make me socks before you make any of my co-workers socks"
*grin* it's cute when people get possessive about your knitting.
I guess I better make him those socks.

I am trying to pick somthing to knit over the summer on my vacation (a month and a half with out my stash and needles?!) I still have a ton of this blue fingering weight stuff but no idea what to knit with it. and my needles I foolishly left in storage with my knitting books. what's a girl to do?

Sweater for Summer

So the sweater wrap thing is finally done in time for the portland heat wave (this is PORTLAND people why is it 90?) I just have to finish croshetting the waist tie and maybe add loops for it on the waist I am still un-decided. Also to wash or not to wash I imaging it might make it less itchy -or far far worse - hard to say, it's a nylon acrylic blend which is pretty much death either way.
Also I now have like 5/6 balls more of this blue fingering weight stuff which I am not sure what to do with, I'd love to do knee high socks but am a little intimidated by socks still.

I got season 2 of doctor who from the library so that should be awesome and fun. Though of the episodes I've seen so far it seems the writing quality has gone down slightly.:P

that's about it. Need to find new projects to knit for the winter, right now I am sewing up one of those fused plastic bag projects you see on the interenet picking things to fuse and doodle was fun but I am doubtful as to how well the bag will stand up to how I abuse my purses. oh well I'll post something when it's done maybe.

"What are you knitting?"

So I am knitting in class the other day and I get the stereotypical question "what are you knitting?" an older woman's asking so I know how this going to go already she'll feign interest when i tell her I am knitting a sweater (not a hat) and this is the sleeve. Then she'll tell me how she could never pick up knitting like it was some kind of confession, Lady, I hardly think anyone expects to knit in this day and age when most people can barely boil water.
But my question is why on earth did she think it was a hat, sure you can knit hats in the round but this would be a rather long hat ( my sleeve is a little over a foot long at this point). Meh. Non knitters.
Oh well. My favorite knitting story though is one that occured recently
I was sitting in the airport staring into space waiting for my massively delayed flight when i notice a lady sit down next to me and pull out her knitting, this sounds like a good idea to me so i pull mine out and we glance over at each other and at the exact same time pull off our headphones and ask what the other is knitting. It was awesome. we petted eachother's projects and talked about lace vs. simple knits. then when we finished chatting about knitting we went back to listening to our music and knitting away.
throughly enjoyable one of those nice insta-bond through commonalties.
